Why the Western Wall is the Holiest in Judaism

Good morning!

Today's blog features an interesting article written by Allan Ross that brings to light why the Western Wall is the holiest site in all of Judaism. Ross explains, "Called the “Kotel” in Hebrew, the Western Wall is actually part of the huge, outer retaining wall for the Temple Mount area where the First Jewish Temple (The Temple of Solomon) was built in 957 BCE and destroyed in 586 BCE, and where the Second Jewish Temple was built by King Herod in 20 BC."

This site became the holiest in Judaism because of its closeness to the actual Temples,  and especially where the First Temple housed the Ten Commandments inside the Ark of the Covenant.
